The Web Evolution Program

What is the Web Evolution Program?

The Web Evolution Program is a joint initiative by McGill's Communications and External Relations and IT Teams to redesign McGill's web interface. The specific objectives of the program are to ensure that:

McGill websites have consistent, recognizable branding that evolves with
the university.

Target audiences have positive experiences with and perceive McGill websites as modern and user-friendly.

Faculty and staff perceive web-related services as comprehensive and responsive
to their needs.

Long-term performance and platform maintenance costs are optimized.

Why now?

  • Our University leaders recognize the importance of digital communications and have allocated new funding.
  • CER Digital Communications has more expertise, stronger leadership, and a clearer focus.
  • Both teams have competent and committed people in place.
  • There is common buy-in for close collaboration.

Simultaneously, other strategic initiatives are creating a momentum:

  • Rebranding exercise
  • Bicentennial
  • UA Campaign
  • CER restructuring
