DESCRIPTION:SPECIAL SEMINAR\n\nScott Weichenthal\, PhD\n\nResearch Scientis
t\, Air Health Science Division\, Health Canada\, Adjunct Professor\, Depa
rtment of EBOH\, McGill University\n\n'Oxidative Potential of Fine Particu
late Air Pollution and Risk of Lung Cancer Mortality and Emergency Room Vi
sits for Myocardial Infarction'\n\nALL ARE WELCOME\n\nBio:\n\nDr. Weichent
hal is a Research Scientist interested in the acute and chronic health eff
ects of air pollution as well as the impact of the built environment on ai
r pollution exposures in urban areas. His current research is related to t
he role of oxidative stress in air pollution health effects and how region
al differences in oxidative potential may modify health risks. Dr. Weichen
thal also develops exposure models for use in population-based studies.\n
\nObjectives:\n\nThis presentation will provide an overview of Dr. Weichen
thal’s research related to the oxidative potential of fine particulate air
pollution and the risk of lung cancer mortality and emergency room visits
for myocardial infarction. Recent examples of his exposure modeling work
will also be discussed including a land use regression model for ultrafine
particles to support population-based cancer research in Toronto\, Canada
