Shapiro, R.S., MD, CM (McG.), FRCSC

 

Dr. Robert Shapiro graduated from McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine in 1969.  He completed his residency in Otorhinolaryngology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1974, and was appointed to the Attending Staff of the Montreal Children’s Hospital in 1974.

Dr. Shapiro is Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, and in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at McGill University.  He specializes in Pediatric Otolaryngology.

Dr. Shapiro was the Otolaryngologist on the Cleft Palate Unit at The Montreal Children’s Hospital from 1975 until 2009.  His clinical and research interests have focused on Partial Adenoidectomy, Ablative Adenoidectomy, Otologic Manifestations in Cleft Palate and Congenital Velopharyngeal Insufficiency,  Ear Drops in the management of Otitis Externa (with a Tutorial for each resident), and Temporal Bone Fractures in Children. He is an instructor at the McGill Annual Temporal Bone Drilling Course.

Dr. Shapiro is the Ombudsman for the Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the Montreal Children’s Hospital.
