 fessor Camille Owens.\n\nCamille Owens is an assistant professor of Englis
 h at McGill University. Owens researches and writes on American childhood\
 , race\, and disability. At McGill\, she teaches courses on a range of top
 ics in black studies\, African American and Indigenous literatures\, child
 ren’s literature\, interdisciplinary research methods\, and archival theor
 y.\n\nLike Children (New York University Press\, 2024) is a history of Ame
 rican childhood that rethinks black children’s excluded status\, demonstra
 ting instead white Americans’ possessive investment in black children's va
 lue and the violence of humanist inclusion.\n\nAmber Jamilla Musser is Pro
 fessor of English at the Graduate Center\, City University of New York. Sh
 e writes and researches at the intersections of race\, sexuality\, and aes
 thetics. Musser is the author of Sensational Flesh: Race\, Power\, and Mas
 ochism (NYU Press\, 2014)\, Sensual Excess: Queer Femininity and Brown Jou
 issance (NYU Press\, 2018)\, and Between Shadows and Noise: Sensation\, Si
 tuatedness\, and the Undisciplined (Duke University Press\, 2024).\n\n \n
