If your question is not addressed below, please visit McGill’s Coronavirus page or email builddir.engineering [at] mcgill.ca
McGill campuses are closed, except for necessary activities.
To promote social distancing and help with “flattening the curve,” access to all buildings in the Engineering complex has been restricted until further notice – this includes all workshop spaces, computer labs, and student spaces. Students, staff, and faculty should not be coming to the McGill campuses unless they have explicit permission to do so. The Faculty of Engineering has removed card key access to select gathering spaces and may extend this restriction to other areas of Faculty of Engineering buildings as necessary.
In exceptional circumstances, if you wish to secure permission to enter campus on a one-time only basis, please fill out the appropriate form on the Access Protocol site.
- All McGill in-person events, on or off campus, are cancelled until June 5. Only necessary functions and activities will be provided on campus; all other functions and activities are closed.
- All McGill libraries and athletics facilities are closed until May 1. Online library services will still be available.
- Starting Wednesday, March 25, shuttle bus service will be suspended between the downtown and Macdonald campuses. This measure is in accordance with the latest directives from the Quebec government. The community will be notified when service resumes.
McGill’s Security Services can still be contacted in case of an emergency.
Staff who are expecting deliveries during the suspension period should reach out to their suppliers to coordinate deliveries. If you are not on campus, please cancel the delivery or arrange to have the goods delivered to an alternate location. Staff who are authorized to be on campus to provide necessary functions will need to ensure that they are present to receive deliveries of services or goods. Security agents are not authorized to accept deliveries.
In order to ensure the safety of everyone allowed to be physically present on campus, please remember that only authorized people are allowed access to McGill buildings to carry out approved functions and activities. As per the Quebec government directive, and until further clarification from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, no one is allowed to access McGill buildings to retrieve personal belongings. Even if you have been granted authorization, you are not allowed to open doors for friends or colleagues. Allowing people into a McGill building puts yourself and others who are required to be on campus at risk.
