Seven Education alumni serve in official capacity at Rio

In  addition to athlete Maximilien Van Haaster (BEd, Kin, 2016), McGill's Faculty of Education will be represented at the 2016 Rio Olympics by seven of our alumni who are serving in an official capacity. They are among a group of 20 McGillians in Rio accompanying our Team Canada athletes and include:

  • Douglas Dirks (BSc PE ’86): CTV basketball analyst
  • Martine Dugrenier (BEd PE ’08): athlete performance officer
  • Shane Fombuena (BEd PE ’13): Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) assistant manager, Performance Centre
  • Sophie Gadoury ( BEd PE ’09) Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) project manager, team services
  • John Hawes (BSc ’72, DipEd ’73): modern pentathlon coach, swimming
  • Hayley Wyatt (BEd PE ’09): Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) outfitting exchanges officer
  • Chantal Vallée (MSc ’01): CTV basketball analyst
