McGill24: A Day of Giving

McGill24 is all about the power of participation: when the McGill family comes together, we have a greater collective impact. The many ways in which McGill changes lives—by making a top-quality education accessible to deserving students, shaping tomorrow’s leaders and supporting research that is solving global problems—is a source of pride for us all.

Annual, flexible funding is critical to McGill’s success. These gifts go to work immediately to support the University’s most important initiatives, from scholarships to experiential learning opportunities for students. You may direct your unrestricted gift to any faculties and areas of McGill, towards any cause. What’s your cause?

Taking part in this day of giving is a way of standing up and demonstrating your pride in the values of McGill and in the powerful role it has in society. Every single gift counts, no matter what size, for as more people give, their gifts can count for more.

On March 14, your gift can have an even bigger impact, thanks to a number of challenges across the University. Here’s how they work: several generous donors, who want to encourage others to join them in supporting McGill, have agreed to “unlock” additional funds once a target number of donations is reached. For instance, a donor may propose that if at least 50 people give to a particular faculty, that donor will contribute an additional $10,000 to that area. In some cases, every new gift beyond a set threshold will release even more funds, creating a multiplier effect that can amplify your support.

Amplify the impact of your gift:

  • Are you under 35? Did you graduate in the last 10 years? If so, when you give back on March 14, we will match your donation as part of our Young Alumni challenge.
  • We will match every donation made to a Seeds of Change project on McGill’s crowdfunding platform.

Support your faculty:

Encourage fellow graduates of your faculty to join you in giving on March 14 so you can amplify the support your faculty receives!

Be proud of your region:

Represent where you live by participating in a regional challenge! For instance, if you live in the United Kingdom or Toronto, encourage your fellow classmates to join you in giving on March 14. Once your region surpasses a certain number of donations, a challenge donor will unlock even more funds for the University.

Faculty and staff:

McGill is an outstanding place to work, teach and conduct research. Represent your area of the University by participating in the Faculty & Staff challenge on March 14! Once your area has surpassed a certain number of donations, a challenge donor will unlock even more funds for the University.
