KPE's Alexandra Potvin-Desrochers receives a HEALTHY BRAINS, HEALTHY LIVES (HBHL) Doctoral Fellowship!

Published: 11 June 2020

Congratulations to KPE's Alexandra Potvin-Desrochers, for receiving a Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives (HBHL) Doctoral Fellowship!

Healthy Brains, Healthy Lives (HBHL) is a high-profile, high-priority multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral initiative located at McGill University. HBHL builds on McGill’s scientific excellence and global leadership in areas of neuroscience that hold the greatest promise for delivering implementable, clinically effective outcomes in brain and mental health.

Alexandra’s project title is: “Neural Mechanisms of Freezing of Gait in Parkinson’s disease

Alexandra is a PhD candidate interested in better understanding and improving motor control of clinical populations. She studies locomotion impairments in individuals with Parkinson’s disease, and more specifically, those who experience a symptom called freezing of gait. Her research uses brain imaging to describe patients’ brain connectivity, but also attempts to improve their locomotion using non-invasive brain stimulation.

Alexandra is currently with Dr. Caroline Paquette's Human Brain Control of Locomotion Lab (HBCL).
