(pending Ministry approval)
There is a growing need for an education program that prepares professionals for a broad range of education contexts, extending well beyond classroom teaching. The B.A. (Education) Education in Global Contexts is informed by a “21st Century Education” approach. Students in this program will develop competencies in knowledge and skills in the areas of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, critical thinking, collaboration, communication, global issues, computer and digital technologies, and culture and ethical citizenship. The B.A. (Education) Education in Global Contexts offers a foundational liberal arts education. Students will be equipped with a strong grounding in educational theory and practice, and will be knowledgeable about key challenges facing education in diverse global contexts. Graduates of this program may go on to participate in professional or graduate programs, and/or may also seek employment in a range of government, educational, health and wellness, industry, cultural, and/or community settings. While the B.A. (Education in Global Contexts) prepares professionals to work in a wide range of educational environments, it does not lead to teacher certification for formal classroom teaching in schools.
PLEASE NOTE: This program does not lead to teacher certification for formal elementary/secondary classrooms.
