L.-Daniel Gauvin is General Manager of Caisse centrale Desjardins and Capital Desjardins inc. In this capacity he is also a member of the Desjardins Group Management Committee.

Mr. Gauvin chairs the management committees of Desjardins Group’s two reporting issuers, Caisse centrale Desjardins and Capital Desjardins inc. He is also responsible for Desjardins Group relations with regulators and investors, and oversees relations with all stakeholders in the Canadian and international capital markets. Desjardins Group’s activities pertaining to the Chief Treasurer’s Office, economic studies, and management of the asset-backed commercial paper (ABCP) portfolio also fall under his responsibility.

He joined Desjardins in 1996 and has held several positions, including Senior Vice-President and Chief Risk Officer of Desjardins Group (2004–2011), Senior Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of Desjardins Financial Corporation (2002–2004), Senior Vice-President of Integrated Risk Management (2000–2001), and Senior Executive Vice- President of Finance (1996–2000) at the Fédération des caisses Desjardins du Québec.

Mr. Gauvin previously held various management positions in the financial industry including Vice-President of Corporate Financing at BMO Nesbitt Burns, Executive Partner and Vice-President of Finance and Business Development at the Royal Trust Company, as well as Vice-President at Bank of America Canada.

Since joining Desjardins Group, Mr. Gauvin has played a key role in all major strategic and financial projects. On behalf of Desjardins Group, he has actively participated in the Pan-Canadian Investors Committee’s work, leading to the restructuring of the asset-backed commercial paper market in Canada, and spearheaded initiatives leading to Basel II certification for the entire financial group. His leadership skills in the implementation of the risk management function within the group have been instrumental in helping to bring about a major change of culture. Thanks to his contribution, today Desjardins Group serves as a model across Canada for the quality of its governance. As Managing Director and head of Caisse centrale Desjardins he upholds Desjardins Group’s reputation as a high quality issuer in national and international financial markets.

L.-Daniel Gauvin serves on the boards of directors of the Montreal Structured Finance and Derivatives Institute and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal where he chairs the audit committee. Mr. Gauvin holds the professional designation of ICD.D granted by the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Born in Montreal, Mr. Gauvin holds a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Finance from Concordia University and a bachelor’s degree in Commerce (BCom) from McGill University. Gauvin lives in Montreal with his wife and has three sons.
