Jacques Dessureault was born in Comox, British Columbia. He grew up in Montreal and his professional life brought him and his family to live in Switzerland for an international mandate. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in MIS from Université du Québec à Montréal and a Master’s Degree in Marketing Science from Leicester University in the UK.
He began his career in the computer industry and spent most of the last 25 years in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry where he led major product launches at both the international and local levels, and successfully managed a major business turnaround.
Jacques is recognized as a visionary leader and well known for his ability to engage and rally a team around ambitious goals. He demonstrates excellent analytical/conceptual skills to drive the development of strategies while ensuring excellence in execution. In addition to his role as leader in the Canadian pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, Jacques acts as mentor to a number of small and medium sized businesses.
Jacques joined Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc., a leading specialty pharmaceutical and healthcare company, in November 2012, where he holds the position of President and General Manager of Valeant Canada LP and is a director of Valeant’s Canadian entities. This organisation composed of more than 1,100 employees in Canada and has established a strong presence with both prescription and non-prescription products.
He is also involved in the academic world where he was a faculty member of HEC Montréal. He is currently a member of the McGill Global Strategy & Leadership Expert Panel, and a judge on the Concordia International MBA case competition. Since 2007, he also works with the Cirque du Soleil Casting and Performance group to provide advice on strategy and innovation.
