MBA student Jackie Hudspeth with Josée Goulet (MBA’90) at the Desautels MBA Orientation Dinner (August 2019)
When Josée Goulet (MBA’90) reflects on lessons learned at Desautels, she always returns to the importance of effective people management. “My MBA experience really raised that human element in the equation of success for me,” she affirmed.
In 2015, she created the Josée Goulet MBA Leadership Award to help future students access the same high-quality education that prepared her for phenomenal success in the world of business consulting. “I’m hoping this scholarship will be a stepping stone to a great career,” Josée says.
The 2019 recipient of the award, Jackie Hudspeth, shares Josée’s passion for putting people at the centre of business. As an active member of McGill’s MBA Impact Investing Network and Training (MIINT), she is preparing for a career at the intersection of venture capital and social impact. The pivot to finance has not come without its challenges given her background in the humanities, but Jackie has devoted herself to climbing the learning curve while also holding leadership positions in the Desautels Graduate Student Society and Desautels Graduate Women’s Association.
Through it all, Jackie expresses profound gratitude for Josée Goulet’s support. “The scholarship has relieved financial pressure during an intense program. But beyond the financial component, Josée has been an amazing mentor and role model for me. She’s taken such an active interest in my welfare.” Since they first connected in person at the MBA Gala, Jackie and Josée have started to meet regularly. “I’m excited for what’s to come,” Jackie noted, as she begins her second semester at Desautels.
