Guthrie Stewart


Currently a corporate director and advisor to a number of entrepreneur orm venture funded companies. He is also Chairman of Enablis Financial Corporation, the investment arm of the Enablis entrepreneurial network in Africa; advisor to the Tandem Expansion Fund, Canada’s largest later stage venture fund; and provides leadership coaching services through the CDC organization. Until December of 2007, was a Partner in the Equity Fund of EdgeStone Capital partners, one of Canada’s leading private equity firms and now part of the GMP group (TSX GMP.UN). Prior to that, from 1992 until 2000, held various executive positions within the

Teleglobe Group including President and Chief Executive Officer of Teleglobe Canada Inc., Canada's leading international telecommunications carrier, Executive Vice President, Global Development for Teleglobe Inc. and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Teleglobe Media Enterprises. Prior to joining Teleglobe, Mr. Stewart was a founding officer of BCE Mobile Communications Inc., formed in 1987 as Canada's leading diversified wireless communications company. He began his professional career in corporate law with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt in Toronto.

Guthrie has served as a member of the Council of Canadian Academies Panel for Business Innovation Assessment in Canada – reporting to the Canadian Minister of Industry. He is also a certified graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors Program (I.C.D. certification) in Canada. Mr. Stewart studied undergraduate science at Queen's University in Kingston and is a graduate of law from Osgoode Hall in Toronto and the M.B.A. program at INSEAD in Europe where he also serves as member of its Canadian Foundation and International Council. Charitable activities include member of the Foundation Board of the YMCA of Greater Montreal and fundraising committees for Centraide and the Montreal Children’s Hospital. He also served as a member of the Executive of the Quebec Chamber of Commerce as well as the Boards of the Douglas and Ste. Justine Hospitals of Montreal.

He was appointed Adjunct Professor and Director of the Teaching Executive Program at McGill University's Desautels Faculty of Management and joined its Advisory Board in February 2008.
