David A. B. Brown
Mr. Brown, a McGill graduate (BCom ’66) was the President and one of the founding members of The Windsor Group, Inc., a strategy consulting firm located in Boston, Massachusetts. Mr. Brown started his career back in Montreal with Touche Ross & Co in 1966; he joined Boston Consulting Group, Inc. in 1970‐1978, and resided in London, Rio de Janeiro and Boston while leading assignments in more than a dozen different countries; In 1978 he joined Teradyne Inc., a leader in test equipment for the semiconductor industry: and in 1980, became a partner with Braxton Associates, a strategy consulting firm that was sold to Touche Ross & Co. in 1984. He is currently President and CEO of Layne Christensen Company.
He has been involved with nearly all the major oilfield services and products companies over the last 25 years, and has ongoing relationships with several of the industry’s chief executives. These activities take him all over the world. He serves as Director on a number of corporate boards including Pride International, Inc. (May 2005) where he is Chairman of the Board, Layne Christensen (NASDAQ) where he is also Chairman of the Board and, EMCOR Group, Inc. (NYSE) where he is Chair of the Audit Committee. He is active on several community organizations, including an educational foundation, an international fraternal organization and a community association. David was born in Newcastle, England and came to Montreal in 1961 to study at McGill. During his years at McGill, he was a varsity rugby player and active in many extracurricular activities – the most important to him was the Psi Upsilon Fraternity. He was admitted to the Quebec Institute of Chartered Accountants in 1968. David also holds an MBA ’70 with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
