Interius Farms reaches new heights in vertical farming

Desautels alumni Jonnie Lawson (BCom’20) and Tristan Zeman (BCom’17) are hard at work to make sustainable, year-round produce accessible to Canadians through indoor vertical farms. Over the summer, their innovative hydroponic growing system won first place at the annual McGill Dobson Cup start-up competition. As they expand into a larger growing facility in Montreal, they’re not slowing down anytime soon.

MBA Japan alumnus realizes dream of opening eco-tourism resort

Canadian entrepreneur Stéphane Beaulieu (MBA’19) recently opened the eco-friendly Yuzkyu Resort near Mount Daigenta in Yuzawa, Japan. Beaulieu’s brainchild capitalizes on the surging popularity of “glamping” by offering visitors the choice of geodesic dome tents, a larger luxury lodge, and an open space for setting up tents near the pristine rivers and lakes of the region.

EMBA alumna joins ranks of Hammerson as CEO

EMBA alumna Rita-Rose Gagné (EMBA’12) will be joining real estate investment trust company Hammerson as CEO and executive director at the end of this year.

Gagné has most recently served as president of growth markets for real estate company Ivanhoé Cambridge, where she was responsible for $7.6 billion of real estate assets across Asia Pacific and Latin America.
