McGill Thinkathon - Disrupt Montreal

Hello World!

The Dobson Centre is organizing the first Thinkathon of 2014 to get developers, designers, and non-technicals solving an issue concerning the city of Montreal.

The whole day is going to be about identifying a major issue in Montreal relating to the improvement of the following:

  • Infrastructure
  • Information distribution and communication for public services
  • Financial and economic improvements
  • Connecting communities in a big city
  • Efficient healthcare systems
  • Efficient education systems
  • The city’s tourism and brand

 

Format:

8:00 - 9:00

We all meet on the second floor, people can start networking and brainstorming ideas. People get to select teammates based on the following categories:

Hacker
Designer
Hustler
Analyst

9:00 - 10:00

Each team of 5 gets a chance to pitch their preliminary ideas and get feedback from the crowd (30 seconds).
People can also change team at this point.

10:00 - 11:00

Team brainstorm idea/idea validation/business model generation with lean startup approach or MIT's 24 Steps.
Plan/format is provided

11:00 - 12:00

Customer Validation (Call/interview real people to see if idea fulfill a market need. If not adjust)

12:00 - 13:00

Lunch and Speaker or team continue to work on project.

13:00 - 15:00

Prototyping and pitch preparation

Teams will have a sustainable business plan by the end of Friday and teams will also fill in the Dobson Cup pre-registration form.

15:00 - 17:00

Pitch (5 minutes)

Judges will choose the winners who will be awarded great prizes and a greater chance to compete in the Dobson Cup 2015!
