Research Day 2021 Abstract Submission

We are pleased to announce that the 15th Annual Faculty of Dentistry Research Day will be held virtually on Thursday, April 8th, 2021, from 8:30am to 6:00pm EDT.

We invite and encourage all graduate and postgraduate students to submit an abstract for the Research Day. The Research Day Organizing Committee invites abstracts from trainees (i.e., graduate students, postdocs), research assistants, and research associates from McGill's Faculty of Dentistry, but also from other faculties/departments and universities.

DMD-4 students are invited to present their Critically Appraised Topics (CAT). Those who wish to present should contact Dr. Svetlana Tikhonova (svetlana.tikhonova [at] mcgill.ca) by February 20th.

Summer Research Scholarship recipients are required to present their research projects.

Submission information for graduate, post-graduate and summer research students:
All abstract submissions must be made through the form below.

The abstract submission deadline is February 21st, 2021.

Abstracts should be related to one of the following areas:

  • Population Oral Health
  • Mineralized Tissues and Extracellular Matrix Biology
  • Biomaterials, Nanobiotechnology and Tissue Engineering
  • Pain and Neuroscience

Format of presentations

This year, due to the virtual format, poster presentations will be replaced by short oral presentations (max. 5-min) delivered via the Whova/Zoom platform. Presentations will be delivered as part of a session that will involve a larger panel of presenters. Each presenter will be assigned a specific time for the presentation. Session moderators will monitor time, be responsible for the transition between presenters as well as moderate the session’s question period.

This year's Research Day will also offer longer oral presentations (i.e., 10-12 min) delivered to a larger audience. Each oral presentation will be followed by a brief question period. Those who submit an abstract for the short (i.e., 5-min) presentations may be invited to give a longer oral presentation.

Submissions for Research Day will be reviewed, and notifications will be sent in early to mid-March. These invitations will be accompanied by more specific instructions regarding the logistics and format of presentations. A detailed schedule and scientific program will also be sent to all attendees along with details about prizes to be awarded.

If you have any questions regarding the event or the abstract submission process, please contact researchevent.dentistry [at] mcgill.ca. DMD-4 students who have questions regarding the content and format of their presentation should contact Dr. Svetlana Tikhonova (svetlana.tikhonova [at] mcgill.ca).

We look forward to hearing about your research and putting together another excellent Research Day program.

Regards,

The Research Day Organizing Committee:
