FAQ

How can I become a patient?

You can apply to become a patient by filling out the online application form.

How long will it take before I get an appointment?

Depending on your needs and our teaching requirements, the waiting period is between 1 and 6 months.

How long are the appointments?

The appointments are approximately 3-4 hours long: 9:00 am to noon in the morning, and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm in the afternoon.

Do you do implants?

We offer implants for the following situations:

  • replace a maximum of two adjacent missing teeth;
  • two implants to support a lower denture.

Do you offer orthodontic treatments?

Yes for the following cases:

  • Limited orthodontic treatment with braces to align the front teeth
  • Simple clear aligner treatment to correct minor crowding
  • Expansion appliances
  • Habit breaking appliances
  • Space maintainers and regainers
  • Simple removable appliances

Please call 514-398-5189 for more information and a screening appointment.

How long will my treatment take?

Because this is a teaching clinic, you must expect more visits compared to a private clinic. We prefer if patients are available at least once every 2 weeks. Depending on the treatment needed, it may vary from 1 month to 1 year. Don’t forget that the clinic runs from September to May only.

Can I go to your clinic for regular cleanings only?

No. We only accept patients that require several treatments. Dental hygiene teaching clinics offer check-ups, x-rays and cleanings at a lower cost.

What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept Interac, Visa and Mastercard. Cash payments and personal cheques are not accepted.

Are there any payment arrangements?

If your treatment is completed in one visit, the payment is required the same day.
If a treatment requires many visits, patients will be asked to pay half of the total amount at the first visit and the balance when the treatment is completed.

Do you accept dental insurance?

If you have private dental insurance, we can provide you with a form to submit to your insurance company.

I am covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Can I apply to be a patient?

We will be accepting patients covered by the Canadian Dental Care Plan in fall 2024. More details will follow at that time.

I am covered by Medicare / I am receiving Social Assistance. Can I apply to be a patient?

People receiving social assistance or covered by Medicare (RAMQ) are not covered in the Undergraduate Teaching Clinic because the Quebec Government does not pay for treatment in our clinic. Most patients who receive social assistance can obtain basic dental care in a private dental office at no cost. Patients choosing to be treated in the Undergraduate Teaching Clinic are responsible for paying the entire cost of their treatment themselves.

Is the clinic less expensive than a regular dentist?

Our fees are approximately 50% less than in a private clinic.

Are you open at night or on weekends?

No, the clinic is closed at night and on weekends.

Where is the clinic located?

The Undergraduate Teaching Clinic is located at 2001 McGill College Avenue, on the corner of Sherbrooke Street West. Reception is on the 1st floor, suite 104.

How do I get there?

By public transportation: The Clinic is accessible by McGill Metro station and Bus line 24.

To cancel or reschedule your appointment please call and leave a message day or night at 514-398-5189.
