Dr. Frances Power receives W.W. Award for Excellence in Teaching

Congratulations to Dr. Frances Power DDS ’90 for being awarded the W.W. Wood Award for Excellence in Dental Education.

The W.W. Wood Award recognizes a professor's excellence in teaching, a passion for student learning, and a steadfast dedication to the betterment of dental education.

After completing her DDS, Dr. Power was Coordinator of Dental Care and Hospital Staff Dentist at the West Coast of James Bay, working with underserved Cree communities, and then a Family Dentist in underserved rural Ontario communities. She joined the Faculty in 2008 to liaise with the Faculty, dental students and the Montreal community to reduce disparities in oral health care access of underserved and underprivileged groups. Her teaching activities are numerous, and the strong bonds she is able to build with students remain a testament to her skills as an educator, mentor, and colleague.
