As Dean of Students since November 1, 2020, Professor Robin Beech champions student rights and responsibilities, coordinates with campus partners to find solutions for students in difficulty, and oversees the student disciplinary process and the OSVRSE. As head of the Office of the Dean of Students, he is also responsible for managing policy development, student affairs, crisis situations, and student recognition and awards.
Robin has been a McGill Faculty member of the Institute of Parasitology on the Macdonald Campus since 1993, conducting research into the targets for antiparasitic drugs in nematode worms and using ideas from evolution as a research tool. He has served as Graduate Program Director for the Institute and as Associate Dean of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies from 2015 to 2020. Robin holds a Joint Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics and Biochemistry from Nottingham University, England and a PhD in Molecular Evolution from Edinburgh University, Scotland.
