Bianca Tétrault, Liaison Officer (Harm Reduction)

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Liaison Officer (Harm Reduction) is responsible for developing and implementing sustainable educational programming, resources and events that promote awareness about sexual assault while fostering an inclusive, respectful and safe environment on McGill’s campuses. The Liaison Officer (Harm Reduction) will also act as a central liaison for the University’s units and groups who are in involved in matters related to sexual assault and other forms of harm.

The creation of the Liaison Officer (Harm Reduction) position is the result of McGill’s commitment to harm reduction as expressed in an announcement from the Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning) to the University community in November 2013. To that end, McGill hosted two Forums on Consent: in February 2014 on the downtown campus and in April 2014 at Macdonald Campus. The Forums provided members of the University community with the opportunity to openly discuss issues related to the nature of consent.

We would like to acknowledge that McGill University is located on land, which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabeg nations. McGill honours, recognizes and respects these nations as the traditional stewards of the lands and waters on which we meet today.
