This research explores the ways in which participation in a summer camp in Montreal in 2018 shaped experiences of social belonging among refugee children, youth, and their parents. In this study, 11 refugee children and youth from Palestine and Syria were interviewed before and after camp. Perspectives from the children’s parents, camp counselors, and staff were also gathered. Findings highlight the key role that community organizations can play in helping support the development of a sense of belonging among recently resettled refugee children and their families.
