Congress 2014

The 20th anniversary of the McGill International Congress on Palliative Care was held in Montreal from September 9th to 12th.

The RETROSPECTIVE, a significant project celebrating 40 years of Palliative Care at McGill was displayed at the Congress as a series of eight panels highlighting milestones of the development of Palliative Care since 1973.

A ninth panel was available for delegates to submit answers to "my hope for the future of Palliative Care is ...", to which there were 63 responses.

Additionally a large kiosk in the centre of the room showed the current state of Palliative Care globally, pointing out how far we have come but how much further we have still to go.

As part of the Council's contribution to the Congress, we sponsored the David Bourke Memorial lecture featuring Dr. Peter Fenwick who presented, to a standing room only audience, his talk "The Art of Dying".

Dr. Fenwick has kindly made his book "Nearing The End Of Life; A Guide for Relatives And Friends Of The Dying" available for us to put on this website in a downloadable format.
