As Quebec reopens and all students and staff return to McGill, we expect the situation on campus to evolve quickly. Here’s what to expect and how you can prepare.

Return to campus timeline

It is important to remember that this plan may change. This scenario is the most likely one, however, and as a community we need to prepare for it.

June

  • Montreal enters orange and yellow alert levels
  • Supervisors begin planning the return to campus for their staff
  • Return to Campus toolkit launched for supervisors
  • Some in-person teaching activities allowed

July

  • Supervisors working on campus at least 30% of the time
  • Administrative and support staff begin occasional on campus work
  • More restrictions lifted as Montreal moves into green level

August

  • On-campus activities with one-metre distancing
  • Students and instructors start returning to campus
  • Labs increase to 65% capacity
  • Administrative and support staff work on campus at least 30% of the time

September-October

  • More restrictions lifted as Montreal moves past green level
  • All students and instructors on campus
  • McGill shifts into the No Distancing phase once 75% of age 16-29 population is fully vaccinated
  • More courses and activities move to in-person
  • Progressive return of all administrative and support staff to 100%
