The Canadian government is currently maintaining a Global Level 3 travel advisory, indicating that all non-essential travel outside of Canada should be avoided until further notice. For this reason, McGill has made the difficult decision to cancel all outbound international exchanges and terms away for the Winter 2021 semester. Relatedly, students will not be able to take online courses with the host university they were set to attend in Winter 2021.
Important points to note regarding the cancellation of Winter 2021 exchanges:
- The $150 application fee for the Winter 2021 exchange application will be refunded and your application will be automatically cancelled. Please do not submit a cancellation form.
- Deferrals will not be possible for the Winter 2021 semester. Should you want to take part in an exchange for the 2021-2022 academic year, we recommend that you first consult with your faculty advisor to discuss your options and eligibility.
- Should you wish to go on exchange in 2021-2022, it will be necessary to reapply. Applications will open beginning December 2020 and will end January 15, 2021.
If you have any questions, please contact mcgillabroad [at] mcgill.ca and CC your faculty. Please also include your student ID number so that the McGill Abroad team can best respond to and keep track of your inquiry.
