If you change your mind about a course after the course change period, you must officially withdraw through Minerva or in person at Client Services. Failing to attend classes or informing your instructor does not constitute official withdrawal, and you will still be responsible for the course fees.
Official withdrawal dates are published before the start of each term. Carefully review the withdrawal deadlines, as there are two deadlines: One with a refund (less a $20 administrative fee per course) and one without refund. If you miss the deadline, you will be responsible for all course fees.

Withdrawal without refund and Grade of “W” – Spring/Summer

If you do not withdraw officially, and you do not complete a given course, you will receive a grade of “J,” which is an incomplete/failure and counts as a “0” in GPA calculations. There is no refund and you are responsible for all course fees.
Effective Date for Refunds
The date on which you withdraw from a course, either through Minerva or in person at Client Services, is the effective date used for determining refunds. No exceptions will be made due to change of personal plans or professional obligations that you may accept after registering for your course. If you are due a refund, you must request it on Minerva, otherwise the amount will be credited towards your fee account.
Other Refund Regulations
Special rules for refunds may apply for courses of 10 sessions or less or for other specialized courses. For specific details, please inquire at Client Services at the time of registration.
If you are a daytime student registered in Continuing Studies evening courses and you wish to withdraw, you must do so according to the deadlines stipulated by your own Faculty. You can also consult your Faculty calendar for refund charges and procedures.
If you are enrolled in McGill programs and taking a non-credit course for eventual recognition as a credit course in your Faculty, the refund and deadline regulations are the same as for credit courses.
