Getting Health Insurance

All students who do not have Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Resident status must purchase the compulsory International Health Insurance plan administered by the University. This plan meets the Immigration Quebec health insurance requirements when applying for a CAQ. Students are required to purchase the insurance for themselves and any accompanying dependent(s).

When registering online using Minerva, students will be directed to the International Student Services webpage for enrolment procedures and details.

Students registering for the first time in September (or for the first time in January) should note that maternity benefits for pregnancies which commenced prior to July 15 (or November 15) are not covered by the University’s health plan.

Premiums are as follows (based on 2011/2012 rates)

Single

$813.00 CAD

Family (one dependent)

$ 2,334.00 CAD

Family (more than one dependent)

$4,437.00 CAD

Students registering in January are assessed a pro-rated premium.
For more information, see Compulsory International Health Insurance at the International Student Services website.

Are you applying to an intensive language program? There are different rates for international students applying to intensive French and English Certificate of Proficiency programs. Please see Certificate of Proficiency Programs.
