Placement Test of Written English (PTWE)
All students wishing to register for an online course must write the online McGill Placement Test of Written English (PTWE).
Next Testing Period for the Fall 2015 session
July 15 – August 8 (registrations will be open as of July 1)
The test results permit an accurate evaluation of a student's proficiency in written English and determine the student's level within our program structure. Students have 90 minutes to complete the test, which consists of three (3) parts:
Part 1 - The sentence (answering questions)
Part 2 - The paragraph (writing an email)
Part 3 - The text (writing a letter)
The placement test takes place online and can be done at any time during the testing period. Once registered, you will receive an email confirming your participation and giving you detailed instructions on how to access the test.
The test results are sent to students by email during the week following the end of the testing period. They are valid for one year. Students can write the test only once per session.
There is a $35 CAD non-refundable test fee, payable at the time of registration for the PTWE.
Registration for the Placement Test of Written English is mandatory.
