In honor of this year’s Volunteers Canada National Volunteer Week, The Value of One, The Power of Many, Career Advising and Transition Services (CATS) is taking this opportune moment to celebrate the value of volunteers. These are dynamic, courageous and nimble individuals who rise up in any situation in times of need, jump in and ask, “How can I help” even when they are unsure what awaits them.

This year particularly highlights the individual and collective acts of bravery during the pandemic, and serves to paint a new picture in re-imagining the future, while begging the question, how can we value the power of one, which inevitably enables us to grow together?

Do you work in schools and support students’ community engagement or work in government departments that support voluntary action? CATS is taking this moment to appreciate acts of kindness, in all shapes and forms, whether based in non-profit or corporate sectors.

Join CATS in celebrating all acts of service with a week filled with topics related to radical self-care, finding fulfillment through volunteering, and community engagement. As the influential Martin Luther King Jr. so poignantly asked, “life's most urgent question is: What are you doing for others?” We invite you to join us in celebrating, and in reflecting on how we can cultivate an attitude of service wherever we find ourselves in our career.
