Carolyne Van Der Meer is a public relations and communications professional. Throughout her career, she has also worked as a journalist and her portfolio includes articles from more than 90 publications, among them dailies, business publications, consumer magazines, industry publications, and cultural, book review and academic journals. Her corporate communications work includes media relations and strategy, and the gamut of internal and external communications.
Carolyne has specific expertise in media analysis, which is used to develop media relations strategies through qualitative and quantitative measurement of media coverage. She has lectured on the subject on many occasions, and co-authored a chapter on this very topic in one of the first Canadian PR textbooks, Fundamentals of Public Relations and Marketing Communications in Canada, which was published in 2015 by the University of Alberta Press.
Carolyne has undergraduate and graduate degrees in English Studies from University of Ottawa and Concordia University respectively, and a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing from the Humber School for Writers in Toronto. Her first book, Motherlode: A Mosaic of Dutch Wartime Experience was published in 2014 by Wilfrid Laurier University Press, and her second book, a collection of poetry called Journeywoman, was published by Inanna Publications in 2017. Her third book, Sensorial, is forthcoming from Inanna in 2021.
