Start: June 2019
End: Completed
The main road on lower campus is an important link between two McGill landmarks, the Roddick Gates and the Arts Building. The road has deteriorated over the decades, in part due to inadequate drainage capacity. It will be demolished and rebuilt up to the Y intersection and the underground mains will be replaced.
The road will be redesigned so as to enhance the lower campus’s shift to a pedestrian-friendly environment. A single-level surface, and new benches and lampposts, among other elements, will help transform this central axis of McGill’s downtown campus into a welcoming gathering place.
