The McGill string ensemble offers young musicians a unique opportunity to play together and enrich their musical journey in a friendly and stimulating environment. The goals of the ensemble are to reinforce sight reading and listening skills as well as bring children and young adults together to share their love of music. The repertoire covers a wide range from 16th to 21st century music tailored to meet the needs of each player.
The string ensemble performs three times a year at the McGill Conservatory recitals. In addition to these concerts the ensemble will be collaborating with other ensembles outside of the conservatory in joint projects bringing music into the communities in and around Montreal.
