Dear Conservatory Community,

We hope that you are all managing in these difficult times. At the Conservatory we have been working hard to figure out how to best serve you for the remainder of this academic year. In keeping with the directives of the Governments and McGill University, I confirm that in-person lessons can neither take place in the Music Buildings nor in the instructors’ homes for the Spring and Summer Terms. By now, most of you have likely heard from your instructor and tried out a remote lesson. We are hoping that the challenges of this medium might also be a source of inspiration and novelty to navigate. We are all learning to connect in different ways, and hopefully this will provide a window on some positive developments in the future (e.g. not driving to the Conservatory for lessons in an ice storm!).

Moving forward I would like to encourage you to view our Frequently Asked Questions for clarification regarding the most common concerns.

As always, thank-you for your patience and support of the Conservatory. We look forward to seeing you in person once some degree of normalcy returns to our lives here in Montreal.

Wishing you well, and hoping that you stay calm and safe and can perhaps enjoy some extra family time even if it is enforced.

Dear Conservatory Community,

Yesterday you all received an email announcing the necessary changes for containing Covid19. As of this afternoon this directive is extended inclusive of the next two weeks (same as all school, daycares, CEGEPS and Universities). As per yesterday’s guidelines, any remote access lessons are encouraged in order to provide some sense of musical outlet and continuity during this very challenging time.

Therefore, please note that all Conservatory lessons and group courses are cancelled from now until Monday, March 30th, 2020 We will provide more information as it is available.

I’d like to also alert you to the following message from the Schulich School of Music Box Office: all remaining public performances in Schulich’s 2019-20 season have been cancelled through to the end of the year in order to reduce the spread of coronavirus COVID-19. This applies to Conservatory Events as well.

Be well, stay safe; we will be in touch.

We are all concerned about the spread of COVID-19 virus.  The Conservatory will follow the lead of McGill University which has suspended all classes and exams for tomorrow Friday, March 13th; we will extend this suspension for the Conservatory for the weekend as well.  Therefore, please note that all Conservatory lessons and group courses are cancelled on the following days:

Friday, March 13, 2020
Saturday, March 14, 2020
Sunday, March 15, 2020

For private lessons: If you are able to take lessons remotely via Skype, Zoom or FaceTime, we encourage you to do so but we also recognize that this may not be an option for all students and instructors.

We will provide more information as a plan develops.  Please be assured that we wish to maintain the health of our whole community and are acting in good faith in canceling activity. Be well and we will be in touch soon.
