The Department of Civil Engineering at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Structural Engineering, preferably at the Assistant Professor level. The Department has strong research activities in infrastructure engineering, structural engineering, materials, environmental engineering, geo-environmental and geotechnical engineering, fluid mechanics and water resources engineering and transportation engineering.
The Department is committed to excellence in teaching in its undergraduate and graduate programs in Civil Engineering and values service contributions of its Faculty members to the University, the profession and society at-large.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Candidates must have a Ph.D., with a first degree in Civil Engineering. Evidence of outstanding research achievements, or research potential, is indispensable. We are particularly interested in candidates with a PhD in structural engineering, having demonstrated research and teaching expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete and wood structures. A strong background in experimental research, with links to the development of building/design codes and sustainable design is required. Experience in numerical modelling, structural evaluation and rehabilitation, seismic design and performance, and infrastructure monitoring, will be considered as an asset.

Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.
