Symposium 2011

The Centre Eleventh Annual Symposium was located at the Macdonald Campus of McGill University in Ste Anne de Bellevue on June 9 and 10, 2011, and your host was Professor John Dalton of the Institute of Parasitology.

This annual event offers the opportunity to graduate trainees and researchers to discuss their most recent work.

The keynote speakers were:

Dr. Dennis Kyle, University of South Florida, Tampa, FL, USA - Mechanisms of recrudescence and resistance to arteminisin in malaria.
His research focuses on the discovery and development of new drugs to prevent or treat malaria and leishmaniasis, two of the most important parasitic diseases of man.

Dr. Miguel Stadecker, Tufts University, Boston, MA, USA - Induction and regulation of the pathogenic Th17 response in murine schistosomiasis.
The main focus of his research is to study the immunopathology and immunopathogenesis of infection with schistosome helminths.
