Centre for Host-Parasite Interactions

FRQNT Strategic Cluster

The Centre for Host-Parasite Interactions (CHPI) was created in 2003 with funding from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT). CHPI brings together more than 30 scientists who study parasites to form new research and training synergies in areas of importance for Québec and the world. CHPI researchers come from McGill University, Université Laval, Université de Montréal-St Hyacinthe, INRS-Institut Armand Frappier, the Université du Québec à Montréal and other organizations. CHPI provides high-quality training in parasitology for graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, and promotes Québec research and expertise nationally and internationally.  An Annual Molecular Parasitology Symposium showcases the work of our members and trainees.  Areas of focus for CHPI research include the host-parasite interface, drug discovery, drug resistance, immunology, and the environment. CHPI administration is located at the INRS - Institut Armand-Frappier in Laval under the Directorship of Prof. Albert Descoteaux and continues to be a vibrant example of world-class research in Québec.
