People Pages, located at people.mcgill.ca, are slated for decommissioning by the end of May 2016. As such, any issues related to People Pages will no longer be addressed. The replacement tool for managing biographical information is called McGill Profiles and will be available to all Site Managers shortly. For more information, see McGill Profiles - Overview.
The search functionality on McGill websites has been improved. Previously, you would have to first choose whether you wanted to search the local site or expand your search to include all McGill sites. Now you can enter your search term once at the top of the web page, and you will be presented with a single page with two tabs : one containing matches within the local site and a “McGill” tab containing matches found within all McGill sites.
McGill IT Services introduced the Drupal-based Web Management System (WMS) about 2 ½ years ago, giving us a cleaner, more modern and better structured system to support our 650+ websites. Over the next few months we will be upgrading the software that runs our websites to Drupal version 7 so we can benefit from advances made by the Drupal open source community.
