The QS World University Rankings today released its 2021 QS Global MBA Rankings, placing the McGill Master of Business Administration (MBA) second in Canada.

Of the 258 programs considered for this prestigious ranking, the McGill MBA ranks 59^th worldwide, climbing 12 spots from 71^st in 2020. The rankings were based on five indicator groups: entrepreneurship & alumni outcomes, return on investment, thought leadership, employability, and diversity. The 2019 Financial Times Global MBA ranking places the Desautels MBA program 87th globally and 2nd in Canada.

According to the QS Global MBA Rankings 2018, the MBA program at the Desautels Faculty of Management has placed 66th in the world among over 200 schools.

The ranking considers a variety of aspects, with the Faculty ranking above the global and national averages for Thought Leadership and Employer Reputation.

Business insider has published a list of the cities with the world’s top-50 universities according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Included on the list are Montreal and McGill University, thanks to Montreal’s quality of life, the Underground City, the festivals, the Biodome, the botanical garden and various other niceties. As for McGill, the piece credits the school’s reputation as a leading research institution and its social sciences department as major factors.

McGill University’s Desautels Faculty of Management ranked second in the latest list, which was released in October 2015, while the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business was fifth. Those Canadian universities all outranked some big name American schools, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard University.

The rankings consider the number of core courses that focus on sustainability, the quality of each school’s faculty and the depth of their business sustainability research.

From baseball to banking, the ability to mine data on performance, customer preferences and other trends is the new must-have for the corporate bottom line.

But still too rare, say employers, is the analyst who combines technical expertise to delve into “big data” and communication skills to explain the findings in everyday language to colleagues and senior managers.

McGill University is the only Quebec university to make the top 100 in the 2015-16 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. McGill was ranked 38th overall out of the 800 universities ranked worldwide, placing one rank better than it did last year. Université de Montréal was ranked 113th, Université de Laval was in the low 200s, and both Concordia University and Université du Québec à Montréal were ranked in the 400s. Université de Sherbrooke ranked in the 500s.
