CRCF to receive a generous gift from the Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman Foundation to support scholarly work on childhood literacy programs. It is with great pleasure that we inform you that the Centre for Research on Children and Families (CRCF) has received a very generous gift of $480,000.00 from the Gerald Schwartz and Heather Reisman Foundation. The gift will be used over three years to support scholarly work on childhood literacy’s programs, including the Love of Reading Initiative, and a post-doctoral fellowship.
CONGRATULATIONS! On October 28th, 2015, during the annual conference of la Société de criminologie du Québec, an article written by Delphine Collin-Vézina and Lise Milne, received a special mention. Jury's special mention Jury from the Denis Szabo award granted a special mention to the article "Adolescents en centre de réadaptation : Évaluation du trauma" published in the journal Criminologie (number 47.1, 2014) and written by Delphine Collin-Vézina and Lise Milne.

Doaa Farid who is completing a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Ellen Rosenberg and Dr. Gillian Bartlett, won the Patients' Choice Award at the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG). She presented her work on a video for immigrants that is part of the Tapestry Project. This is two years in a row one of our trainees took home this award. Congratulations!
Each year McGill's Faculty of Education participates in the university's campus-wide Open House event and exhibits our program offerings to prospective students and their families. Hosted in the lobby of the Education building at 3700 McTavish, this year's event was a first-rate success, evidence that the love of teaching is still very much alive! In addition, visitors are always anxious to learn about our faculty's Kinesiology degrees as well as our Graduate studies and Professional Development programs.
Bruno Roy, a second year Masters student of Ben Heppner, has placed third at the Canadian Opera Company's annual voice competition COC Centre Stage. The competition showcases the next generation of opera stars selected from nationwide auditions for the COC Ensemble Studio—Canada’s premier training program for young opera professionals. The competition features the young singers vying for cash prizes ranging in value from $1,500 to $5,000.
