Hurdle impedes Gaels as Redmen claim bronze at Old Four soccer tourney

Team captain Jeremy Hurdle netted the winning tally in the 69th minute as the McGill University men's soccer team edged Queen's 2-1 to claim the bronze medal match of the Old Four preseason tournament at Varsity Centre on the U of T campus, Sunday.

'Varsity leaves soccer Redmen feeling blue in PK shootout

Killan Elkinson connected on the decisive penalty-kick as the University of Toronto outlasted McGill 4-3 in a shootout for a 2-1 victory in men's soccer at the Old Four tournament, Saturday.

2012 Redmen soccer training camp opens Aug. 15

Training camp for the 2012 McGill University men's soccer team opens on Aug. 15 for players that have been invited by head coach Jose Valdes. Anyone who has not received an advance invitation, may attend an open try-out camp Sept. 2 at Molson Stadium (475 Pine Ave. W.).

2012 HALL OF FAME PROFILE: Aldo Braccio

Soccer goalkeeper Aldo Braccio is among five new additions announced recently for induction to the McGill Sports Hall of Fame. A four-time all-Canadian, he was the starting goalkeeper for five seasons at McGill, from 1982 to 1986, posting a stellar 47-1-6 record with nine shutouts and a stingy 0.50 goals-against average in 54 regular season games.

1962 Football champs among new inductees to McGill Sports Hall of Fame

The 1962 McGill Redmen football team, which will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their magical Yates Cup league championship this fall, headlines a new cast of five inductees selected for the McGill Sports Hall of Fame, bringing the list of honoured members to 112 since the pantheon opened in 1996.

Redmen duo merit all-star status in RSEQ indoor soccer league

Two members of the McGill men's soccer team have earned all-star status in the RSEQ men's indoor soccer league. Defender Alexis Pradié, a native of Marseille, France was named to the first team, while William Hoyle, a midfielder from Ottawa, made the second squad.

McGill announces coaching change in men's soccer

David Simon has stepped down from his part-time post as head coach of the McGill men's soccer team to focus on his day job as a crown prosecutor in Montreal. Jose-Luis Valdes will take over the coaching duties for the winter indoor season. The 31-year-old native of Montreal played for the Redmen (2001-04) and has also served the past 11 seasons as an assistant coach with the McGill women's team

Banks deposits a deuce as Redmen finish fifth at CIS soccer championship

George Banks scored twice in a nine-minute span during the opening half and added an assist to lift the McGill Redmen to a 3-1 win over McMaster in the consolation final and finish fifth at the 2011 CIS men's soccer championship on Saturday afternoon at the University of Victoria.

Redmen a dark horse to win CIS soccer championship in Victoria

McGill has qualified for CIS men's soccer tournament in Victoria this week and looking for their fourth national championship after claiming the title in 1981, 1982 and 1997. New national champions will be crowned when the best eight teams in the country gather in on the west coast for the 42nd CIS men's soccer championship.
