FRC - CIS Football Top 10 (#1) Defending champion McMaster opens season at No. 1

For the first time in team history, the McMaster Marauders open the CIS football season atop the national ranking. Nine months after capturing their first-ever Vanier Cup title with a thrilling 41-38 overtime win over the Laval Rouge et Or, the Marauders received 25 of 30 first-place votes from the Football Reporters of Canada panel to lead the inaugural poll of 2012 with 294 points.

Football Redmen to kickoff 132nd season at Queen's on Sunday

The McGill University Redmen will open their 132nd season of football Sunday (Aug. 26) afternoon when they travel to Kingston to play the Queen's Gaels. The preseason affair renews a long-standing rivalry which dates back to 1884. It's the first rendezvous between these clubs since Aug. 25, 2008. Queen's leads the all-time series with a 100-74-5 record overall.

McGillians play role as Canada stuns USA to win world football championship

The Canadian national junior team jumped out to a 10-0 first half lead and went on to stun top-seeded Team USA 23-17 to capture gold at the International Federation of American Football Under-19 championship in Burger Stadium in Austin, Texas on Saturday night. The Canadian squad featured McGill sophomore quarterback Dallon Kuprowski of Kanata, Ont., and Redmen offensive coordinator Patrick Boies.

McGill's Chevrier among record 145 CIS grads in the CFL

Randy Chevrier, a McGill grad playing with the Calgary Stampeders, is among a record total of 145 players from CIS institutions that are listed on Canadian Football League rosters going into the 2012 CFL season, which is set to get under way Friday night.

2012 HALL OF FAME PROFILE: Frank McGill

The late Air Vice-Marshall Frank McGill is among five new additions announced recently for induction to the McGill Sports Hall of Fame. Once referred to by The Canadian Press as "a hazel-eyed superman", McGill was also inducted to Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1959 and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1965.
