Earlier today, a Quebec based consortium of research institutes (Génome Québec, Oncopole and IVADO) announced the winners of their first-ever “Omics Data Against Cancer” competition, and McGill research teams were dominant. In fact, of the five selected teams no less than four of them included professors from McGill.

Dr. Hanadi F. Sleiman has been selected as a recipient of the COTTRELL SEED (Singular Exceptional Endeavors of Discovery). This honor carries with it an award of $50,000 to support the very first instances of highly creative projects. Congratulations to ECE Graduate Catherine Vanasse Grosdidier on being awarded one of the two Governor General's Silver Medal at this year's graduation ceremony. The Medal is bestowed upon the graduating student who obtains the highest academic standing in a Bachelor degree program across McGill.

Catherine completed her B.Eng (Honours) degree while also serving as the President of the ECE student society, ECSESS, (Electrical, Computer and Software Engineering Student Society).

McGill University astrophysicist Matt Dobbs is the recipient of the 2019 Killam Research Fellowship in Natural Sciences.
