Dr. Ronald Lafrenière appointed Managing Director of McGill’s CFREF Program, Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives
In September 2016, the federal government made an unparalleled investment in research and innovation, announcing $84 million in funding over seven years for McGill’s Healthy Brains for Healthy Lives initiative, as part of the Canada First Research Excellence Fund (CFREF) program. Following this announcement, a committee for the selection of the HBHL Managing Director engaged in an extensive search and interview process. Research and Innovation (R&I) is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. Nancy Ross of the Department of Geography as Associate Vice-Principal, Research and Innovation (AVP-R&I), with a three-year mandate beginning September 1, 2016. Prof. Ross follows Prof. Antonia Maioni, who served in the role for one year before assuming the role of Dean of the Faculty of Arts at McGill University on July 1.
The International Relations division, previously located in the Office or Research and International Relations (now the Office of Research and Innovation) has been moved to the purview of the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic). Appointment of Prof. Anne McKinney as Associate Vice-Principal, Research and International Relations
Research and International Relations is pleased to announce the appointment of Prof. R. Anne McKinney as Associate Vice-Principal, Research and International Relations (AVP-RIR), with a term beginning January 1, 2016 and ending December 31, 2018.
The Office of the Vice-Principal, Research and International Relations, and Office of Sponsored Research will be closed from December 24, 2015 to January 4, 2016. Happy Holidays!
Dr. Christina Wolfson, Professor in the Department of Medicine and in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and Occupational Health, has been appointed McGill’s new Deputy Research Integrity Officer, commencing on January 1, 2016. Effective June 1, 2016, Dr. Wolfson will become McGill’s Research Integrity Officer for a three-year term, ending May 31, 2019.

Mathematica, from Wolfram Research, is a powerful computational software used for mathematical modeling and data visualization. McGill IT Services has been providing Mathematica to Faculty & Staff, and in computer labs across the University for the past few years. Now it is also available to students via the McGill Software site (www.mcgill.ca/software).
