Call for papers - Stateless Law? The Future of the Discipline

This event will aim to foster critical assessment the latest developments in legal thought and innovative approaches to law, in the light of globalization and the move away from a national paradigm for law. It will ask how to integrate the insights so gained into the teaching of law.

Publication of “Le droit civil et ses codes: parcours à travers les Amériques”

In 2009-2010, the Quebec Research Centre of Private and Comparative Law hosted a series of Civil Law Workshops on the theme "The Civil Law and its Codes: A Journey Across the Americas". The collected texts have now been published by Les Éditions Thémis under the title Le droit civil et ses codes: parcours à travers les Amériques.

Call for volunteer judges for the Canadian qualifying rounds for the Jessup Moot

Next March, McGill’s Faculty of Law will be hosting the White & Case Canadian National Division Qualifying Tournament. Approximately 120 lawyers, legal academics and judges will be needed to act as competition judges.

Paul-André Crépeau remembered at Montreal City Hall

A declaration was read on August 22 & 23 at Montreal’s municipal council to commemorate the exceptional contributions of Professor Paul-André Crépeau to the civil law of Quebec, to the education of thousands of students, and to the dissemination of legal knowledge in Canada and beyond, and to offer condolences to his family.

Lionel Smith elected a Visiting Fellow at Oxford's All Souls

Professor Lionel Smith, Director of the QRCPCL, has been elected a Visiting Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. Professor Smith has been a professor at McGill since 2000, was awarded a James McGill Chair in 2004, and became the Director of the QRCPCL in 2007.
