Congratulations to Prof. Marcelo Wanderley on his accomplishment as the most cited author over the entire lifetime of the New Interfaces in Musical Expressions (NIME) conference. With students and colleagues, he has co-authored 48 NIME papers presented at 17 conferences which had a total of 1,391 citations over 20 years [Fasciani & Goode, 2021. p. 24]. In addition, Wanderley has also co-authored the first- and third-most-cited articles in the history of NIME.

The 109th edition of the prestigious Concours Prix d’Europe took place June 6 – 11, 2021 at the Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur in Montreal, bringing together top musical talent. The jury was comprised of renowned artists soprano Marie-Danielle Parent (Prix d’Europe 1980), cellist Carole Sirois, musicologist and oboist Michel Duchesneau, pianist Michel Franck (Prix d’Europe 1977), and orchestral and choral conductor Louis Lavigueur, C.Q..
Congratulations to Max Henry, winner of Schulich's 2020-2021 Teaching Award in the Teaching Assistant/Graduate Instructor Category.
As Teaching Assistant for MUAR 392 (Popular Music after 1945), Max showed an eagerness to support the instructor and students in whatever way. he could. Whether it be by assisting in the “live” classroom by monitoring the chat, responding directly to students, reading their questions/comments out loud, or participating in classroom dialogue, it was clear that he was there to help.
Congratulations to Jennifer Messelink, winner of Schulich's 2020-2021 Teaching Award in the MUAR Teaching Assistant/Graduate Instructor Category.
Throughout the past year teaching MUAR 392 (Popular Music after 1945) — her third time leading the course — Jennifer has proven to be an engaging and knowledgeable instructor with a commitment to and command of the material. Though students are immersed in popular culture on a daily basis, she strives to help them make sense of the vast amount of popular music accessible at their fingertips.
Congratulations to Donny Kennedy, winner of Schulich's 2020-2021 Teaching Award in the part-time category.
A dedicated educator in the Jazz Area since 2004, saxophonist Donny has been the small ensemble coordinator since he started, organizing 20-25 combos annually, as well as teaching Jazz Arranging. Students remark on his leadership, experience, and understanding in fulfilling his responsibilities for a host of undergraduate and graduate courses as well as for the design and development of the curriculum for music education or performance majors.

The 2021 Juno Award winners have been announced, and Schulich faculty, students, and alumni can be found on the list of nominees and winners. From Vocal Jazz Album of the year to various Classical Albums of the Year, the Schulich community has appeared in a number of different award categories.
