McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management has earned top marks in the annual QS Global 250 Business Schools Report, putting the Faculty in the same category as institutions such as Harvard Business School and London Business School. In particular, the Faculty earned high marks for employability of its graduates, international academic reputation and research excellence.

As the new semester rolls in, so does a new textbook-exchanging app. Venndor, founded by recent McGill graduates Anthony Heinrich, Julien Marlatt and Tynan Davis, is a classifieds app with the goal of helping students buy and sell textbooks without the need for haggling or negotiating prices.

Form follows function. The philosophy that drives nature also drives business school re-design, especially in Canada. The focus? Creating student community. Why the push? Business schools recognize that the sprawling university model doesn’t reflect the 21st-century business model of community, collaboration, and innovation. Instead, they reflect insular and disjointed approaches. Many current business schools send students to classes on one part of campus, career services in a far flung corner, and student groups sprinkled about.

Aspire was founded by students from Canada's McGill University in 2013, and launched the Ghana project last year.
In the United States, the company has a quarter hectare cricket farm, which sells wholesale to a handful of restaurants. Retailers including Exo and Bitty Foods use Aspire's cricket powder to make protein bars and flour. In Mexico, Aspire is also breeding grasshoppers.

A noticeable fraction of the thousands of startups I have looked at in the last seven years have made attacking a societal evil (e.g., hunger, homelessness, etc) a key part of why they exist. This is extremely laudable from a moral perspective. We should thank those people for their big hearts and open minds.
However, when trying to secure a venture investment to fund such an endeavor, these startups often fail to include an absolutely necessary section in the pitch deck: How is this investment going to make a bleeping lot of money for its institutional investors?

The UBC Sauder School of Business was one of four Canadian business schools to be ranked in the Global Elite Quadrant of the QS Global 250 Business Schools Report, the Globe and Mail reported.
The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto, Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, and Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University, also qualified for the elite category.
