US News & World Report named the McGill Personal Finance Essentials Course as one of its top 12 free online personal finance courses. It’s the only Canadian university course to make the list, and the magazine notes that while the course focuses on tax rules in the Canadian, the personal finance essentials it teaches are of universal value.

Quebecers who want to buy cold beer and wine may soon need to head to their local dépanneurs. The Societé des alcools du Québec (SAQ) plans to reduce the number of fridges in their stores from 2700 to 918, saying it’s part of their plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. McGill Online is a new portal that aggregates online degree programs from across McGill’s faculties, offering a McGill education to people who might not otherwise be able to get one. These degrees are offered fully online and present opportunities to people who are based in other cities, or who can’t study on a typical university schedule.

Digital platforms like Uber and Airbnb bring buyers and sellers together and create gig economy opportunities that did not exist before them. But they have problems too, and have been criticized for exclusionary practices, digital surveillance, and other questionable policies. McGill Desautels continues its hot streak in the case competition arena with another podium result, placing 2nd overall in the prestigious 2023 Copenhagen Business School Invitational Case competition. 12 schools flew to Copenhagen and were challenged to help Vestas, a leading company in wind power plant solutions, leverage its position to create new businesses in hydrogen technologies and develop a strategy for 2030.
