uPrint popup to accept McGill Username & print jobs to stay in the queue for 72 hrs as of Monday, June 3
As of Monday, June 3rd, at 6:00am, the popup that you see when printing to the uPrint Mono [Popup] or uPrint Colour [Popup] queue will now once again let users enter their McGill Username. You'll still be able to enter your McGill Short Username, but now you can enter the credential you prefer to use, meaning less chance for spelling errors that prevent your print job from reaching the queue.
You told us and we listened. You said you wanted an easy way to navigate to the most frequently accessed sites. Now IT Services has introduced a pinnable toolbar accessible from the Quick Links pull-down menu, found at the top of all McGill Web Management System pages. The toolbar contains links to Staff Directory, Maps, myMcGill, myCourses, Minerva and Email. Just click on the thumbtack to pin the menu to the top of all McGill WMS pages. Try it out!

May 23, 8:45am - update: We are currently addressing some issues with the /channels website. Most functionality has now been restored. Work is still underway on the tag-based listings normally found on this site. The uPrint service will be unavailable due to an upgrade lasting approximately 9 hours, starting on Friday, May 3 at 9pm and ending on Saturday, May 4 at 6am. Any print jobs submitted before the service shut down will stay in the queue for a period of 48 hours and will be available for printing once the system is back up.
IT Customer Services (ICS) will permanently close its Laptop Repair Service effective April 30, 2013. The cost of operating this service has made it difficult to sustain, particularly within the context of the University’s current fiscal situation. ICS will honour any repair requests received by April 30, 2013, but will not accept new requests after that date. For laptops acquired under an IT Services Procurement Program that require warranty service, ICS will arrange for your laptop to be sent to an external authorized service provider for diagnosis and repair.
The new-generation BlackBerry device (Z10 and others) can retrieve your McGill email by synchronizing using ActiveSync. Please see the related link for more information.
To limit the damage done to the reputation of the mailbox owner and McGill by accounts that have been compromised, IT Services is now applying a quota on the number of email items sent within a 24 hour period. Each recipient listed in the To, Cc or Bcc fields is counted as a separate item, whereas an email sent to a group or LISTSERV is only counted as one item. If you need to have the quota increased, contact ICS Service Desk.
Available in Minerva -- (For students) 2012 Tuition tax receipts in the Student Accounts Menu. (For employees) 2012 T4 and Relevé 1 tax receipts on the Employee Menu > Tax Slips Menu. To print:Log into Minerva directly at http://www.mcgill.ca/minerva, access and print the slips. Accessing Minerva through myMcGill portal will give unsatisfactory printing results.

As you may know, in March 2012, McGill launched its new myCourses learning management system, and we have now successfully delivered both Summer and Fall 2012 terms in the new system. As of January 31, 2013, we will begin to phase out the old WebCT system, given that the vendor will no longer support it.
IT Services is now offering a new antivirus and online threat protection software: Titanium Internet Security for Mac, available for all Mac operating systems from OS X 10.5.8 and up. This includes the latest version of Mac OS X 10.8. In addition to basic features such as protection from viruses, spyware, and malware, it can protect you from phishing scams, block / warn you about unsafe websites or links, and has customizable parental controls so you can restrict children’s Internet access.
IT Services is launching a new Channels system to post and distribute News and Events across the McGill Web Management System (WMS). As of 7:00 am on Monday, September 3, the old McGill Channels system will be closed and all existing Channels listings will be migrated into the new system, which will be available in the WMS on Tuesday, September 4.
