On Sunday, May 16, three finalists filled Pollack Hall with songs and arias spanning three centuries of music. Soprano Jacqueline Woodley with pianist with Jennifer Szeto and lutenist Sylvain Bergeron, tenor Wesley Harrison with pianist Esther Gonthier and soprano Emily Richter with pianist Rebecca Klassen-Wiebe lit up the stage with their talent and skill.
We are pleased to announce that the three finalists chosen to compete for the 2020-2021 Golden Violin Award are violinists Russell Iceberg, Alicia Choi, and Astrid Nakamura. These string players were selected from a stellar semi-final round held on Saturday May 15, 2021 at Pollack Hall.

Joel Chadabe, CIRMMT's lifetime member and member of the Centre's International Advisory Board, passed away on Sunday, May 02. He was 82.
Congratulations to all who received prizes at the 24th edition of the Conseil québécois de la musique’s Opus Awards! Many of the laureates were from the Schulich Community, and we couldn't be prouder. The ceremony celebrated the inspired resilience of the Quebec music scene during the 2019-2020 season, which included musical projects presented both before and since the pandemic began.
Being recognized "for his lifelong devotion to Canadian music, as an internationally renowned composer, educator and scholar", the Schulich School of Music congratulates Prof. Brian Cherney for this momentous appointment to the Order of Canada.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of E. Noël Spinelli on October 16, 2020. A dynamic entrepreneur as well as a visionary and philanthropist, Mr. Spinelli played an important role in building many Montreal musical institutions. He was a devoted supporter of the Schulich School of Music and was a member of the Faculty Advisory Board for many years. A lover of opera and vocal music, he established the E.
