I have heard from many of you since the troubling events of November 10 on our downtown campus. Upset, anger, and concerns have been expressed. There is a worry that McGill is moving away from being an open, tolerant and safe environment.
Message from Michael Di Grappa, Vice-Principal (Administration and Finance) We are happy to report that the conciliator has called both sides back to the bargaining table this Friday, November 25. We will keep you up to date on developments as we are able.
As Principal of McGill, I am deeply sorry that events so at odds with the culture and values of the university have happened here at McGill. I know that I am not alone in regarding these events as most regrettable and ones that we hope never to see repeated.
Please note that a portion of today's Senate meeting will be live-streamed on the web so that more people will be able to observe the discussion. This portion of the meeting will be in the form of Committee of the Whole to discuss the events of recent days.
As you may be aware, demonstrations are planned for today on the downtown campus. As expected in such situations, appropriate measures will be taken to maintain the safety and security of all individuals on campus as well as to safeguard the University’s activities, operations, and facilities. Classes and all others academic events are planned to proceed as scheduled.
